Sammamish is a Seattle suburb, considered a work in progress: it became an incorporated town only in 1999. A downtown business district is still in the planning stages, though a new City Hall opened in 2006 and a new larger library opened in early 2010.
Sammamish has many beautiful parks, and because it borders Lake Sammamish, there is no shortage of outdoor activities.
Residents praise the town for its excellent schools and youth activities, as well as its proximity to high-tech jobs in nearby Bellevue, Redmond and Issaquah.
Money Magazine ranked Sammamish 12th in 2009 and 11th in 2007 on their list of most desirable places to live among the top 100 small towns. It offers a variety of neighborhoods and is supported by two school districts, Lake Washington and Issaquah, each with a high school and a newer private middle school & high school Eastside Catholic, all within a mile of each other.
The community has grown over the last 10 years, whereby embracing the traffic circle as a means to keep the commuters moving…it has worked well! The Sahalee Country Club hosted the 1998 PGA Golf Championship and 2002 NEC World Golf Championship. For 2010, they are slated to host the Senior PGA Championship.
